| | | Click on the Start button on the task bar on the desk top. when you get the Sub menu under Start menu, click on the Program button to get another Sub menu under Program. Now click on Netscape Communicator to get another Sub menu. Next click on Utilities to get another Sub menu and then finally click on User Profile Manager. You will get the following screen. | | | | | When you get the above screen, click on New for creating a new user profile. A new screen will appear as below. | | | | | Click the Next button to enter into another new screen. | | | | | In the above screen, type your user name in the Full Name text field. Enter your complete email address in the Email Address text field. Now click on the Next button. | | | | | | Type in your user name in the Profile Name text field on the above screen and then click on the Next button. | | | | | In the above screen , type the address of the mail server from where you got the Internet connection. For example, if the Internet connection has been provided by VSNL, then your address would read like this: hd2.vsnl.net.in OR, if your ISP is Satyam, then the address would be mail.satyam.net.in. Now click on the Next button to get the following screen. | | | | | | In the above screen, type your user name in the Mail Server User Name text field and the server address - mail2.magnai.net - in the Incoming Mail Server text field. Now click on the Next button to get the next screen.
| | | | | Now click on the Finish button to open the Netscape browser. Once the Browser screen appears, click on the Inbox icon. To Get Message, type in your password. | | | | | | | When you open the Outlook Express window, the following screen will appear. | |
| | | Select Tools on the Menu bar to get the following screen. | | | | | | Click on Accounts to get the next screen as shown below. | | | | | Select the Mail tab and then click on the Add button. (The configuration of numbers seen on this screen shows that an account has already been created. Ignore it.) The following screen appears. | | | | | | In the Add sub menu, click on the Mail to get the following screen. | | | | | Enter your user name in the Display name text field. Click the Next button. | | | | | | When the above screen appears, type your email address and click on the Next button. | | | | | In the above screen, specify the type of mail server - [ Pop3] in the Incoming mail server text field. Next mention the mail server address - mail.magnai.net - in the second text field. Type the mail server address of your ISP in the Outgoing Mail Server text field. For example if your ISP is VSNL, then the address would be: hd2.vsnl.net.in Now click on the Next button to get a new screen. | | | | | Type your user name in the first text field. Then enter your password in the second text field. Now click on the Next button. | | | | | In the above enter your user name in the text field and click on the Next button. | | | | | Select the last option. I will establish my Internet connection manually - and click on the Next button. | | | | | Click on the Finish button and the first screen will appear again. Now click on Inbox to check your mails. | | | |
|  WORKING WITH FTP | | Double click the "Cuteftp" icon on your desktop. You will get an "Important Notice" screen as shown below. | |

| | | You will get "FTP Site Manager" screen automatically as shown below | |
| | | Click on "addsite" button. You will get "Add Host" screen as shown below | |
| | | | Fill up the blank fields as shown above. Site label - Company Name (you can give whatever name you want). Host Address-domain name i.e. www.domain.com; User Id - User name given to you. Password - Password given to you. Keep the Login type 'Anonymous'. Keep the Transfer type 'Auto-Detect'. Keep the Host type 'Auto-Detect'. Keep the remaining fields blank.

| | | Click 'OK'. Again You will go to "FTP Site Manager" screen as shown above.
Select the site that you have added and click "Connect". | |
| | | | You will be connected to your site automatically after checking the User Id and Password as shown above.
Your window will be divided into two parts. Left frame will be your local system and right frame will be Server. Go to the folder where you have all the files that you want to upload in your local system. (Left frame). | |
| | | | Once you get connected to your site you will get a "Login Messages" screen as shown above.
In that screen you will get "Site Administrator FTP Instructions". Go through the instructions carefully. Click "OK". | |
| | By default you will find "Web" folder in the right frame under "/users/usersftp" folder as shown above.
Click the small yellow button in the right top corner of the right frame which will take you one level up. Click the button again to go another lever up. That means you have to click the button "twice". Thus, you will go to "/" (root) directory. | |
| | There you will find some folders as shown above.
Double click the "Web" folder. | |
| | | | Now select all the files that you want to upload in the local system (i.e., left frame). Right click the mouse where you can find an option called "upload" as shown above Click it. | |
| | All the files will be uploaded into the server. Once the process is finished, you will get a message -"Done" in the top frame, (which tells you the status). as shown above -
You have to give the next required commands for uploading the files (after 'done' shows for every command) within 300 seconds time or else it will give a 'Noop' command & will give a ' No Transfer Time out [300 seconds] closing control connection' as shown below. | |
| | | After which, we will only have to reconnect again (click the fourth icon on the top) in order to upload the remaining files from where we left. | | | | FTP commands thru' Ms-Dos | | Once you enter into the Dos Prompt (c:/), type the commands in blue color at the prompt.... 1. ftp www. ……….. .com 2. userid:(enter the userid that is given to you) passwd: (enter the passwd that is given to you) 3. bin 4. cd ../../web ** 5. put (upload the filename that you want to upload with the extn.) e.g. put index.html 6. put (keep doing for every file that you want to upload) 7. quit (to exit from FTP) **cd../../web means that once you have entered into the ftp zone of the site, after giving the user id & the password.... a) You are now logged on to /users/ftpid (the ftpid is what you type, e.g. hasimftp) b) Go two levels up i.e. cd../../web c) Now you come to /web. Upload the files to this path. Note: Pl. name your index.html file as default.htm incase of your site, uploaded on NT server. The points to be noted while uploading the site on to its direct domain : - All the files names have to be in small case & no caps (letters) to be used.
- All the files names have to be in .html extension only (no .htm) to be used anywhere, except default.htm for the homepage (incase your site is on NT).
- All the files of the site have to be uploaded under/web only & no where else.
| |  SOME IMPORTANT POINTS : - (If you want to download the files from the server to your local system) -
Select the required files which are under Web folder in the right frame. -
Right click the mouse where you can find an option called "Download". -
Click it. All the selected files will be downloaded to your local system. -
If you want to create a new folder on the server, to rename the files, to delete the files, to change the directory, to change the file attributes - right click the mouse, where you can find all the options. Make sure - you uploaded all the files in the web directory which is under root only. You can check your site online through the browser | | |
