Creation of a B2B/B2C e-commerce site selling extended warranties online to consumers using Powertier Application Server for persistence and the Apache web server with JRUN as Servlet engine. This is a 'n' tier application with JSP as the front end, Manager Layer calling Service Layer created using Java as the programming language, which in turn calls the Powertier managing the persistence. The backend database is Oracle. The Project is mainly divided into five main modules - Business Central, Product Support Central, Referral Engine, Service Central and Admin Central.

  • Involved with Data Modeling and creation of EJB (Entity Beans) through Rational Rose, which generates a 'perfile' used by PowerTier, for Oct 2000 release.

  • Created Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) template, which would be used to dynamically generate the .css file, to be included in all the JSPs.

  • Created the JSP pages with JavaScript validations, which would use the API generated by Powertier calling the Manager Layer and whose Look and Feel is controlled by the underlying CSS file.

Individuals have to deal with numerous information devices (desktop computers, laptops, PDA's, handhelds etc.), numerous information sources (paper-based, computer-based, and web-based) and numerous access points (computers, internet, communication devices etc.) A typical individual finds his personal and business data fragmented and distributed across several of these devices and encounters the associated problems with this fragmentation. Hotsafe's Internet based service cut through this maze of information and focus on the information that is relevant.

  • Participated in system design and drawing up the specifications as team lead.

  • Involved with 'nmake', which is Microsoft Server Script used for Web development. 'Nmake' is a type of utility to compile total package at single attempt.

  • Set up JSP and JRUN compiler.

  • Used Servlets to capture the data at the server.

  • Involved with system enhancements and bug fixing in EJB.
