It meets all legal requirements of the individual states and provides the ability to submit letter request automatically and interactively. These chips are capable of storing general and personal information of an individual and can also have a number of applications on it. One such application is the Electronic Purse application. This is similar to magnetic card payment, but the money is transferred from chip to payment device which has a similar chip to store the money. Electronic purse can be loaded by connecting to the host system using X.25. Before connecting, the loading device validates the purse and also checks the personal code.
